Today’s new moon in Libra aspects inquisitive retrograde Mercury in harmonious Libra, action planet Mars, which is passive in Libra, and transformative Pluto, retrograde in Capricorn. The lineup is intense, which is why it’s going to bring up a lot of past issues as we move forward in our lives.
Retrograde Mercury’s alignment with the moon can make you feel as though others aren’t giving you enough attention. You also might feel somewhat unheard by others, particularly in one-on-one relationships. With Mars firmly in the mix of the energy, you might seek passive ways to be heard by those in your social circle, work, family, or intimate partnership. Manipulation could ensue (by trying to guilt others), causing more issues. But if you take the high road, you can use the energy to ensure that action is being taken to heal insecurities and imbalances in relationships. You can express your sentiments, just be prepared to be put on hold until after the new moon.
The moon-Pluto square (Pluto has been retrograde since April 27 and turns direct today) cements a new beginning or foundation for relationships—not without tears and frustration, however. Breakups, shake-ups, shakedowns, meltdowns, and change can all happen today, with a side of jealousy and unremarkable emotions thrown in. Just remember that every new beginning comes from another beginning’s end. Be prepared to let go if necessary.
With luck, today’s Libra New Moon (4:05 AM PDT 13° Libra) will produce a new and welcome collaborative, cooperative atmosphere. Pluto stations direct today, opening the door to renewal and regeneration. However, the energy stirred by this New Moon is not easy to manage. We may find ourselves prone to impulsive surges of self-righteousness. The balancing influence of Libra can also produces alternating waves of charm and a desire for peace making. The unsteadiness and unpredictability of this atmosphere may be excruciating if we aren’t able to maintain balance in the wake of many confusing and contradictory messages and attitudes. The potential for great strides is possible here, through balance, compromise and collaboration — but not a go it alone, all or nothing attitude. The Moon goes void-of-course late this evening at 10:02 PM PDT following an intense square to Pluto.

Moth Spirit asks, what is guiding you right now? Are you in alignment with Spirit or pursuing something or someone with so much tenacity that it has become a compulsion or addiction? Are you so intoxicated by a potential relationship or opportunity that you can’t think straight? Hard work and dedication are virtues, and love of course is a beautiful thing.
However, when Moth Spirit appears, it is time to consider if you have gone over the edge in a relentless pursuit. Workaholism, overeating, perfectionism, or addiction to certainty or even to a person may be your current vice.
The form of your addiction does not matter so much as awareness of the consequences of remaining persistent when moderation is needed. Let go of your excessive energy by channeling it in more than one direction.
The fire burns hot, and you do not want to be engulfed by your passion to the exclusion of all the other pursuits that matter to you. Now is a time for surrender and radical acceptance so that your drive does not cause you to flee or to fight.
Spirit wants you to release your need for certainty and control so that you can relax into a more balanced way of using your Moth Spirit energy. Banish the “shoulds” and “musts” so that you can enjoy what is as you allow for what might be.
39 is a number of a very powerful winner mentality in which one keeps going until eventually succeeding. It’s a number of never giving up. If perfectly balanced, it can be extremely powerful.
