In order to attain the things that we want and need in life, we have to grow. At times, we don’t want to evolve or make the effort to blossom into the person we want to be. But once you let go of the need to be in charge and learn to go with the flow, situations can get easier. This can give you a lot of energy to transform your life and gracefully flow in the direction you want to go. Letting go of the past isn’t easy, but it’s necessary in order to ensure that you’re making strides in your life.

The good news is that you don’t have to throw away your childhood dreams and youthful folly. You just have to be aware that they hold a place in your heart and memory. Who you are now isn’t who you were then. Goals change as we grow up. You may look at life more skeptically, but the depth of your soul and solid foundation are the same. Honor and surrender to the changes that are happening now.

The plodding nature of today’s accomplishments may seem rather disappointing. We’ll do better to use whatever determination that we have to build foundations — even though we are likely to feel that much more should be possible. The real challenge seems to be that our levels of self-confidence are not as high as they need to be. While there are opportunities, we may find that we are holding ourselves back without clear reasons. While the challenges we can see today are certainly real, our capacity to handle them effectively are much more significant than we are giving ourselves credit for.
