Today’s Moon-Venus trine may encourage wild expectations, over-optimism, and self-indulgent passion that may seem to offer far more than can actually be delivered. Personal self-discipline continues to be extremely important to make the most of this environment. However, luck may also be a factor in the progress we make today and a healthy dose of humility and gratitude will go a long way towards keeping us focused — rather than chasing rainbows. There is little in this atmosphere to force us to stay focused. However, the eventual consequences of irresponsibility will be harsher than we can recognize from today’s vantage point. The Moon goes void-of-course this evening at 9:37 PM PDT (and won’t arrive in Pisces until late Wednesday morning).

THE WEEK AHEAD: We move closer to clarity and begin to escape from chaos this week. We may start out the week with some serious concerns over bad choices and needless sacrifices. However, by week’s end, we make a significant turn in our thinking, recognizing past mistakes, and preparing to rectify them. Mercury slows down all week and turns direct at the beginning of next week. A the same time, Chiron is slowing down to turn retrograde on Saturday, joining the ‘Backtrack Brigade’ of currently retrograding planets — Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto, and Neptune. Venus has begun to pick up some forward momentum but, in Gemini, offers little help in finding the necessary self-discipline and humility that we need to make the most of this week’s challenges. Nonetheless, there is enough curiosity and compassion — mixed into the restlessness — to lead us to the understanding that our strong desire for personal safety and security, spurred by the retrograding Mercury in Cancer, is actually connected to the safety and security of everyone else. This recognition helps to lead us into a promising period of reconciliation. Perhaps the biggest challenge here is patience. Mars in Aries could keep us pretty stirred up, ready to fight with passion for what we believe. But Mars will slow down over the next few months and turn retrograde in the middle of September, taking most of the steam of our fight. Although Mars does not enter the shadow of the retrograde until July 25th, we may get a taste of the coming sense of frustration this week — something like a warning of what’s to come. Hopefully, it will be enough of a warning that we will recognize the importance of patience, self-discipline, and humility as we begin to work towards correcting our past mistakes and setting our sails on a better course.

Sunday may bring some serious post-Full Moon regrets or concerns about our past choices and sacrifices. However, we should not cry over spilled milk but rather, let it go and move on. There is a tendency to wild expectations and over-optimism on Monday. Self-discipline will help us to avoid paying a future price for irresponsibility. The Moon is void-of-course all day on Tuesday and there are likely numerous challenges and frustrations to be dealt with. We’ll do better to just take a step back. We do a bit better on Wednesday, as compassion and sympathy move in to ease our path. Nonetheless, we should be careful to filter out manipulation and not allow our sympathies to be too easily aroused. We begin to recognize some comfort in self-discipline and humility on Thursday. We are more likely to be concerned with doing the job well, instead of placing the blame for slow-downs and wrong turns. Cooperation and collaboration are even easier to come by on Friday, We find ways to begin to clear away some of the distrust and miscommunication that was stirred up last month by the retrograding Venus. Chiron turns retrograde on Saturday (ahead of Mercury’s station direct the following day). There is a new understanding of how to make the necessary course corrections and set ourselves on a more productive course.
