The Sun arrives in Gemini this morning, offering hope through increasing curiosity and a willingness to expand our understanding through learning. However, we need to stay willing to accept — even embrace — input from others. Otherwise, we may only display reckless self-centeredness today. The Sun’s trine to Saturn and Pallas helps to stabilize any recklessness and, with at least a modicum of cooperation, provides a wealth of opportunity for expansive but realistic planning. There is extra importance in today’s bridging of the Taurus-Gemini cusp, which requires cooperative alliances (e.g..Teacher/Student) that maintain an even, equal balance and smooth give-and-take of insight and information.

The moon in its waning phase continues to move through Taurus. The sun enters Gemini this morning, bringing choices. The energy is slowly shifting from practical and earthy to cerebral and communicative. Gemini rules communication, information, ideas, duality, and the mind. The sun’s transit will highlight these themes over the coming four weeks.

The Taurus moon meets Uranus around midday, bringing surprises and unexpected developments. Remain detached. You’re in the waning phase of the moon, and this is a chance to release what is dying to clear space for something new to take root.

But there may be a certain amount of confusion as Venus squares Neptune this afternoon. You’re reflecting on your choices and being asked to gain clarity on your desires. Avoid projecting fantasies (or disappointment, if you’re feeling disillusioned). What do you want? Why? Who and what do you value? What are you creating? Who do you love? What do you need in order to feel financially and emotionally secure? Be honest with yourself, and be patient while the fog clears.

TAURUS/GEMINI CUSP

“Geminus — The Insurance Salesman:

This fast-talking cuspoid combines the clever double talk of Gemini with the business sense of Taurus. These curious and sometimes psychic people often become political pollsters and they are the inventors of “no-fault” insurance. Geminus rules junk mail, rotating TV antennas, the game Monopoly, and licorice.”

– Tem Tarriktar

This earth/air combination needs a mediator to translate the values into something that will blend. If you thought Aries was a problem to Taurus, consider what Gemini does. Aries built a fire under Taurus and allowed no rest. But on the Gemini side, something like insects are buzzing around you when you are trying to relax. Gemini is highly mental but not to be pinned down about anything. Don’t ask Gemini what it means. Only, “isn’t that interesting – and how about this?” Gemini touches and takes off, unmindful of whether anyone follows or not. Taurus clips Gemini’s wings. But Gemini simply cannot sit in one place long enough to rest. It’s fine to be a scatterbrain as you collect bits of information. But it isn’t of much value if someone or something doesn’t find a way to relate it to what goes on in the world.

Any instance of this cusp, in people, planets, or situations will need help of some kind to use these energies rather than simply be used by them. If all you have is just one of these energies, you’ll get along just fine. But it is like living in a one-dimensional world where nothing really makes you aware that there is something else out there. Once these two see value in the conflicting energies, they can work together as long as they don’t step on each other’s toes too hard. Taurus needs what Gemini has for what Taurus is most interested in doing. For example, Taurus provides a green thumb for growing plants such as flowers. Left to its own devices Taurus will just leave the flowers in the garden to bloom, die down and come up again next year. But with Gemini’s help, Taurus can add design to flower arrangements and horticulture. Taurus needs Gemini for planning and security, especially monetary security. Gemini can’t just do this on its own. Nor can it be pinned down to a constant routine.

If Taurus can allow Gemini to cut loose and have some fun on a regular basis, Gemini can be brought back to settle down to some rather confining work, such as doing very clever planning. If you are born on this cusp, you have to find a way to incorporate the nature of Gemini without putting it in a gilded cage and still find a way to feel secure when it is time to leave your comfortable rut and take a vacation not just a siesta.
