Mercury arrives in Aquarius today, squaring Uranus and sextiling Chiron. Important ideas begin to break through the overwhelming concerns around security. Today’s atmosphere is extraordinarily active and likely quite productive as well. Communication and new ideas begin to open up our minds to a broader, universal perspective, allowing spiritual principles to invade the isolating sense of fear and concern for our security and safety. As wisdom begins to filter through the darkness, we gain more inclination to be altruistic, rather than self-serving and grasping. Although Power and Control may continue to be the coin of the realm, some of us begin to understand that is only self-control that offers us any lasting security.

The energy shifts today as communication planet Mercury leaves Capricorn to enter Aquarius, a fixed air sign that deals with the collective consciousness. Also, the moon moves through Libra, making squares to Pluto and Saturn tonight and bringing us to a turning point. Expect the energy to get lighter, bringing in a flurry of communications, conversations, and new revelations. In Capricorn, Mercury’s energy was methodical, pragmatic, and goal-oriented. Now in Aquarius, we’re being asked to innovate, experiment, create, and think outside the box. With Uranus (modern ruler of Aquarius) in Taurus and Venus in Pisces, there’s almost a sense of realizing that there is no box.

It is the mind that keeps us caged in our perceptions, limiting our view of what is possible. We are in an infinitely creative moment, with an abundance of fertile energy asking that we open our minds to what is different.

This also means learning to open space for others who hold opinions that differ from your own. You needn’t believe everything everyone says; this requires a process of discernment. But Aquarius asks for acceptance above all. With acceptance there can be constructive progress.
