The Moon goes void-of-course early this morning, at 4:07 AM PST. We don’t get the boost we’re looking for until the Moon arrives in Gemini at 6:10 PM PST and may spend much of the day overwhelmed with the frustrating lack of movement. Compassion for others is even more important today than it was yesterday. The undercurrent of initiative has not disappeared, which may only make today’s slowdowns and distractions all the more frustrating. The solution is found in offering assistance to others and stepping back from pushing too hard on our own agendas.

THE WEEK AHEAD: There is no doubt of the significance of this week’s decisions, adjustments, and sharp turns. There is a powerful feeling of a New Beginning and an inclination to take individual initiative in order to gain recognition and make substantive gains. Jupiter makes the final pass of planets over the South Node in Capricorn before the nodes move backward into Sagittarius/Gemini. The strong but draining need for approval and recognition, indicated by the South Node in Capricorn, reaches a peak. The extreme emphasis on the sign of Capricorn aims our focus on foundational security, accomplishment, and personal influence. However, seeking to expand our influence will only be satisfying if we are firmly grounded by strong and nurturing connections to our family, roots, tribe, or ancestral heritage — elements connected to the North Node in the sign of Cancer. Individual initiative and the search for recognition creates a potent sense of imperative under Friday’s Cancer Full Moon (11:21 AM PST 20° Cancer Capricorn). Over the course of this week, as the pressure and imperatives build, we will only find true accomplishment through compassion, connection and nurturing. But there are several other elements at work this week as we hurtle towards next Sunday’s Saturn-Pluto conjunction. Uranus turns direct, which will begin to create new cracks in the outworn and crystallized structures that are already under assault by the Saturn-Pluto conjunction. As well, Mercury reaches the superior conjunction with the Sun, grounding and sharpening our intellect, offering clearer insight into how we may begin to build a new structure once the old walls have come down. The Full Moon opposes the Sun within only 2 degrees of the forming Saturn Pluto conjunction. By the end of the week, Saturn is within just minutes of the powerfully epic conjunction with Pluto. We may very well feel a great deal of frustration with this week’s pace and the pressure of the imperatives which don’t really offer us much help to stay grounded or slowing down. We are really only in the prelude phase of structural change — nearing the end of the beginning. We shouldn’t try to tug on the roots or try to speed up this process. The structural changes will become more apparent in the coming weeks and months of this New Year but in ways that are unexpected, rather than orderly.

There is a sense of a New Beginning in the air on Sunday. We gain some ability to articulate our ideas with precision. However, if we don’t get enough recognition, we may be more inclined to pull back. There is likely to be a significant amount of frustration in the air on Monday — movement is slow at best under the void-of-course Moon. The freedom that we feel on Tuesday may bring on rash impulsiveness. Adjustments are required in order to make any progress at all so frustration may continue to be high. Creative inspiration is enhanced on Wednesday, but we should remember to be cautious and remain teachable — no one has all the answers. Thursday’s Cancer Moon highlights the desperate need for compassion and nurturing. Intuition is quite strong. The Cancer Full Moon on Friday brings strong imperatives and individual initiative to a peak. Uranus turns direct and Mercury reaches the superior conjunction to the Sun. Our vulnerabilities and need for recognition will begin to wane with the lunar cycle. Any desire for expansion of our personal influence faces inescapable limitations. Defensiveness is possible on Saturday under the Leo Moon’s trine to Mars. Bravado and bluster carry very little weight.
