We are faced with the magnitude of the task at hand today — what lays ahead may suddenly seem quite overwhelming. While our responses may vary, we continue to deal with an underlying feeling that we need recognition, approval, and security. When seeking these things, we may be inclined to ignore the needs of others. Self-righteousness and the jealous grasping for what we believe we are owed will only keep us isolated. Certainly, we are facing heavy demands in some way or another, creating the desire to be rewarded for actually facing them — or resentment for having to face them at all (entitlement). However, the underhanded or devious tactics we are tempted to use to escape the pressure are ultimately unlikely to offer much satisfaction. Communication is also particularly challenging today and we aren’t really capable of fully articulating exactly what we want to be recognized for.
